I severely dislike buying for Christmas, but I love giving. I also love making, and eating and I wanted a special someone to get a special gift, from my heart and my new home (which is why I’ve been the absent blogger!).
These things are so good they almost didn’t end up a gift! So here’s my gift to you, to give to someone who will love it, and if you dare try them, don’t say I didn’t warn you! Also, I don’t measure so just deal with it.
1 egg white (3TBSP liquid whites) + 2 TSBP maple syrup… Listen, if you have Mrs. Buttersworth in your pantry, just use that. Whip these two together until they’re frothy and smooth in a medium sized bowl (or whatever you have).
In a good sized bowl, throw in some raw sugar (about 1/2c) and get creative with your spices – I used ground cinnamon, some pumpkin spice, cayenne pepper (easy on that though), and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk it up!
Raw nuts: I used a small container of almonds and about 1 1/2-2c of pecans. Toss them in the egg white/maple syrup mixture until they’re coated, then throw them in the spice mix and shake that all around, too.
Line a baking sheet with wax paper/parchment paper and spread the coated nuts around. Bake for 30 minutes, your house will smell AMAZING!
They come out a little sticky and candied, but as they cool the sugar hardens and dries and the flavor just gets better and better!
I’m not sure what to call them, maybe Maple Pumpkin Candied Nuts or something along the likes… anyway, enjoy and let me know if you try them!
Active time, meh… 10 minutes maybe? Total time: 40-45minutes
